The Memorial Hall for the Former Site of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee in Shanghai is set to open on July 1.

Located in Jing’an district, the hall is housed in a classic Shikumen-style building and will showcase the development of the CPC throughout history.

“Our goal is to uphold and promote the great founding spirit of the Party,” said Zhou Qinghua, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Jing’an District Committee of the CPC.

The Memorial Hall is divided into four areas that comprise the restored site, an exhibition space, displays, and a plaza filled with sculptures. The exhibition unfolds through three sections and recounts the Secretariat’s struggles, achievements, and unwavering loyalty.

The Secretariat was founded in Shanghai in July 1926. Between 1927 and 1931, the memorial hall on today’s Jiangning road served as the headquarters for the Secretariat, handling key documents and hosting meetings of the central political bureau. Prominent figures such as Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping frequented the hall.
